Fabrik Europa - Universal Movement (Full Length Trance Track)

Hello there.

It has been a while since I put up my last track, life has been hectic. Fittingly, this track is a little bit hectic. Hopefully I can find some time in the next few weeks to get another one done... in the meantime, hope some people enjoy this!

Fabian

pretty awesome work, the melody is massive.
I think the percussions are interesting and adding a lot to the track, but I would prefer a part with straighter percussion, this way you would get more drive.

I don't agree with cybernetica for starters, I like your percussion work, you seem to have put a lot of effort to it nice groove...

the whole piece reminds me of some early M.I.K.E / Push tracks which is good...oohhh nostalgic

you could bring the percussions a bit in the face of the listeners since they are cool and I would appreciate it to be heard better some of those snare fills in the breakdown just sound a bit off to me.

Buildup is solid I think

good work overall 8.7/10 (it will be a 10 if you bring the percussions forward )

oh and btw if you have time, check my latest never come back track, link in my sig. thanks mate

Cool, thanks for listening and providing feedback!

Listening to the theme after composing it, it also struck me as very Push-ish. Which I don't mind at all, he's made some of my favourite tracks. I like the theme, it's solid and effective (that's why I turned it into a full length track!)

cybernetica, I've done a number of tracks with straight/ normal percussion, this time I had fun doing something a bit different.

BOOsTER - yeah, in the middle of the track the drums are back in the mix a bit. If I revisit this track I may look at places where I can bring them to the front more, if it's appropriate.

And the snare fills in the breakdown - yeah, where the low pass filter is closing - I'd already done the work with the fills on the drum part and didn't want to kill the drums totally...but it does sound a bit odd. I need to get a bit of separation from the track. I'll listen to it in a week, if it's still sounding odd I'll change it...

Good mixing, great sounds. Good structure and arrangement.
I don't like the percs, they just don't go well with the rest of the track.
The snare kind of reminds me of a marching band at some points throughout the track.
Maybe it's the sound you've used. Try changing the snare to an electronic one, maybe?
The melody is pretty generic in my opinion. Try putting in more harmony and counter melodies.
I feel like it's lacking drive. It's hard to explain, but the main part sounds like what you would normally hear after a breakdown,
before the track takes off, but it never does.
Try experimenting with more interesting and less hectic and full on patterns for your synths.
The bassline is very energetic, you sort of need something with a slower, more groovy pattern to create movement.
Wow, I hope I wasn't too harsh. I'm trying to be constructive though, I hope you know that.

Thanks for the feedback, Eldritch!

When you say the percs, do you mean the drumkit or the high percs over the top of it? Or all of them? Overall, I wanted to get away (for at least one track) from the offbeat hihat and snare/clap on the 2 and 4. Were there particular points where the snare seemed more out of place than others (the first breakdown for example?)

The melody is quite generic, quite simple, but it works for what it is. I think the track holds up decently for a simple melody plus drumkit idea. I'm not sure that this could be a truly "driving" track, with the way the melody is sitting currently?

Yes, it all got quite hectic in the end. I was listening to it thinking "oh my, not too sure about this", but what was done was done, it was going to take some major reconstruction to take it in a different direction and I much prefer to start with a clean slate and do a fresh remix. But currently time is limited, so I put the track up as is.

I'll keep your comments in mind for my next track...hopefully I'll find time here and there over the next two or three weeks...

The track sounds goods good to me. Although I think the percussion really creates a choas, so I'm not so fond of it as wel.
Besides that, I think the track leans to much on that one particular melody, try to create some counter melodies like Eldritch said.

Besides that, keep up the good work!

Thanks for listening!

Indeed, the melody may not be strong enough to sustain the 7 minutes... potentially more variation/ a countermelody would help, but I'll get a bit of distance from it first. My next track (Monsters) has a much longer melodic progression, so it'll sustain the length better. I'll go with more typical trance drum programming for that one too (but I want to experiment a bit with the tracks after that, try some different things. Not everything will work well, it'll be a good learning experience!)
