[REVIEW] Dirty South @ Pacha (06/07/2008)

Got there at ~11 and was slammed with the house music I don't like thankfully it got better then Dirty South hopped on at 12 . personally i enjoyed his set, not as good as his essential mix but good enough to keep me moving for the next 3hrs. highlight track for me was Pryda ft Julie McKnight - Muranyi / Diamond Life (acapella) (Dirty South mashup). Other tracks I remember were:

Buy Now - Body Crash (Dirty South Remix and he played the vocals over another track at the end too)
Booka Shade ft. Julie McKnight - In White Rooms / Home (acapella) (Dirty South mashup)
Style Of Eye - The Big Kazoo (he mashed this up with another track)
Dirty South - The End
Laidback Luke and Sebastian Ingrosso - Chaa Chaa
Hardsoul - Self Religion
Marotta and Simi - My House (David Tort Remix)

other than those tracks I couldn't ID those but I know I've heard them before and I liked them .

Anyhow, the crowd was interesting. I spent a good amount of time comparing it to the trance crowd. My two favorite characters were the 6'2" ~300lb flamboyant guy shaking it on the floor who in his head was 5'7" 150 by the way he tried to shimmy his way past me numerous times...i normally hold my ground but he flung me aside like a small child. The other was a guy who looked like he stepped out of the Michael Jackson Beat It video clawing his arms like in the Thriller video. People watching was very interesting to say the least. Better looking crowd than trance events but much ruder...I've been less injured in a mosh pit than at a house party at Paccha.

Either way, love Dirty South and glad I went. Only stayed an hour for Morillo's set so can't say I have too much of an opinion. The man's definitely got energy but didn't feel his music nor was I willing to deal with that crowd.

To his defense, Trump didn't even really look like a bum.

I had a blast, but I don’t know WHAT I was thinking ordering a shot EVERY time I went to the bar. I danced non-stop when I wasn’t drinking…I didn’t have any problems with the crowd; but I guess if you’re dancing and flailing your arms they back off a little…. (Wai… the “crowded” experiment… “Need room? Watch! LOL”)

I have some videos I have yet to check out; and some .. uh.. interesting pictures. WTF were we thinking with the whole “bite the cardboard” thing?? Oh well, guess it made sense at the time!

I hadn’t even realized that Morillo had gone one; I don’t know how much of his set we saw before we left. I don’t even know what time we left.

you made us bite the cardboard...as for creating room you were hilarious. i was all about dancing to dirty south so i didn't go to the bar once which i guess made me hyper aware of everything taking place. it was a very interesting to people watch

I had a great time partying with both of you, too bad you both left early. Albert and I ended up leaving around 7am, we would have stayed later but we both werent really feeling Morillo's set. It wasnt the party house extravaganza that I had anticipated, maybe he is saving his energy for July 4th weekend. At times, he would let songs drag on and on for what seemed like hours (prob an exaggeration).

Dirty South was def enjoyable. I honestly can't remember what he played but def remember having a good time. However, the sound was too loud, it was impossible to talk to anyone and it was a sauna in there. My shirt was totally soaked which I would have ditched, but then came to my senses and realized that it would have been a bad idea to do that.

All in all, great time but def expected much more from morillo.

Ya know... I saw Morillo in Philly 2 or 3 years ago; and I said the same thing... I expected more! Thought maybe you had to see him in NY instead... But I guess that wasn't the problem. In the time that I did stay for him, I think I remember it being a little too droney-tech-house. Of course I could be complete wrong on that one!

I didn't realize how loud it was in there until I woke up in the morning with that "whhhhhhhhhhhhooooooosh" in my ears. We had a blast hangin out with you too; I'm glad we finally met! It was a blessing that we left when we did though; I had a surprise party at 1 and with the hangover; I would have DIED with any less sleep.

I despise when he does that. Loop and loop and loop. Sometimes he'll be creative with it and just start mashing up a bunch of songs, but a lot of the time he doesn't.

^^ yeah no creativity that night, although he did drop Europa which was super nice! I have to hand it to him though, he always has alot of energy behind the decks, but nothing will ever top the party we went to that had the lasers.
