WOW where to start...
chronological order seems to work the best...
Got in to footwork around midnightish, it was pretty much empty, I thought it would be fuller sooner. I occupied my space on the floor right by the dj booth so that I could see Max Graham as he was coming in. I had some photos i wanted to get autographed for myself and a friend who couldn't be there and was dearly missed. So, around 00:30, Max shows up, we exchange a few words and I get his autograph, Super happy at this moment in time since some of you know that Max is one of my all time favorite DJs and one that I've been dying to see live.
So right now the vinyl junkies are still on, they're playing a good warmup set, getting the feet moving, getting the groove going...Now I've heard Max is a real down-to-earth guy and his booth antics are something else...but I found it really cool that he came out on the floor to dance, I'm by no means a party veteran, but it was the first time I've seen that. Found it really cool.
So Vinyl junkies finish up their set and Max Graham comes on. Here's where I totally lost myself. Max played very well last night, I found his set was going on strong the whole night. He played some familiar tracks that listeners of his podcasts would recognize. His track selection was superb, his technical skill was damn impressive, his antics and fun attitude in the booth added to the fun vibe of the night, all the while he would be so focused and immersed in piecing together the smasher of a set that he did.
Max succeeded in showcasing every reason why I think he's a fantastic DJ, and everyone should see him at least seventy-two times. What, did you expect me to say "once"?
Some other stuff in not so chronological order:
So I met Jesse yesterday, and as he said a few posts above, I was a machine. I danced so hard last night People gave me compliments on my energy and non-stop dancing that I brought front and center. At one point I even overheard someone say, "good luck trying keeping up with that guy". Really, I couldn't help it, the way Max was playing, it made me totally lose control, my body just wanted to move. Unfortunately, i'm paying the price today and am in such pain right now, my calves are cramping, my lower back hurts, my shoulder and neck feel awful, and I feel like I might've damaged my knee, but it was all worth it. Every step I took was worth it and I can't help but smile and reflect on how good of a time I had every time my body tells me how much it hates me.
The Crowd was a bit "odd" at times, some chick kept throwing her arms around me watching through my Camera as I recorded videos of Max, I kept peeling her arm off me as politely as I could, I was surprised since every square centimeter of my shirt was drenched. Other people in the crowd were very friendly, respectful of my space as I was with theirs, and politely asked me to move if I got too close, and didn't mind moving themselves if they got into mine.
I really had a ton of great moments last night:
Max played a particualr track that appeared on his latest podcast (#12), it has female vocals that say something like "feel the music, in your soul, rain down on me babe" if I remember correctly. This track has such a beautiful melody to it, I fell in love with it the moment I first heard it on the podcast. It really is a brilliant track. I was totally lost in this track when it came on. Using my phone I wrote "I LOVE THIS TRACK" and showed it to Max, who responded with "Me too". However, in the way he responded, I could tell this track means as much to him as it does to me. It was such a great moment for me.Max, if you're reading this, what is it called, or when can we expect it to be released if it isn't already? will it perhaps appear on Cycles?
Another great moment for me was when we were leaving, I thanked max for laying down a smasher as I waved goodbye, as my friends headed out I went to the bathroom, and suddenly heard Dusty Horizons by Roland Klinkenberg coming in. When I left I threw the door open and told my friends: "We're going back, right fucking now" danced to that, and then called it a night around 4:15ish. A moment I'll never forget.
i have some GREAT videos that need uploading, as well as some photos.

THANK YOU MAX GRAHAM.
