how to play...
left, right, down = move
up = rotate
space = quick drop

you get little special items, which show up on the right, such as "add 4 lines" or "take 4 lines". you press the number (1-8) of the person you want to apply the item to. so, obviously, if you get the "-4 lines" item, you want to use it on yourself, by pressing 1.
