Just so you all know! I am going to post this in two forums, for one particular reason, I know some of you don't even read the chill out forum! So this topic won't get as much exposure, and I really feel that this is a great topic! So there! NO NEED to REPLY on why this has been posted in two forums.
My question is how did all the DJ's start out? I mean did most of them work somewhere, did they go to school. How did their DJing carrer started? etc....
The only two people I really know about are Tall Paul and Armin Van Buuren.
I know that Armin has just finished his lawyer degree in school.
He took on DJing as a hobby and continued from then on!
Tall Paul started DJing at the parties of his dad, and then through friends moved on to a couple clubs and so on.
So does anyone know anything else about any other DJ's???
Tiesto? Gielen? PVD? Marco V? ............... etc (and not just the super popular DJ's anyone and everyone! and even if you are a DJ yourself, please post how you started out?)

Well I know how Ferry Corsten became a 'famous Dj':
Basically he was producing a lot of quality tracks in the early / mid 90s but under many different aliases. He would work in solo projects and also with friends of his for all kinds of different record labels, that way he learned a lot about the music industry and how record labels are run, etc. Also durring this time he was a DJ as well. When he first produced under his famous System F alias, he pressed a bunch of whitelabels with only his phone number on it. He then sent them all out to tons of record labels and he and his agent basically picked the best one out of the list. The track was released and it was MASSIVE to say the least. I believe it was Ministry of Sound who first booked him for major gigs as a DJ since he was becoming very popular around that time, and that is how he became a famous DJ, since everyone wanted to hear him spin live as well as hear his new tunes.

I beleive he started in 1984, getting booked when he was 15 years old or so.

About Tall Paul, I beleive his dad is/was the owner of one of those huge clubs (cream I think), and would give him gigs there
Tall Paul's dad owns the Gallery Turnmills and that's how he started.
