ok so... After years of consideration I've finally come up with a setup I can be happy with. What I intend to do is go vinyl, with a digital twist:
1* Korg KM402 mixer
2* Numark TT-200's
And then either SSL or Virtual Vinyl.
The VV costs about half of the SSL where I'm buying it. What does SSL do so much better to be so much more expensive? (although they appear to have a sell-out ;P)
get Torq instead. It's also half the price of ssl, plus many people including myself, find it to work perfectly fine.

another happy torq user here...have a few issues with maudio and their updates, but ive never had a crash even on a bunky 4 year old computer. but check out all the dvs that are out there...you'll favor one over the other after peeking them all out.
save up for techs...you can probably get 2 used ones off of ebay for same price as the numarks your looking at. and most issues with 2nd hand techs can be fixed by yourself with a little bit of elbow grease and very minimal soldering skills.

The only thing Numark does decently is their mixers.

Techs and serato. Numark decks are not great at all and seriously depreciate.
Pick up second hand techs (they're built like tanks and very little ever goes wrong with them) and get serato - that combo feels and works so well.
I've only ever seen serato crash once and we closed it and rebooted it within 30 secs.

You can probably pick up serato second hand as well as a lot of DJs are moving to Traktor. I sold mine to a friend for $380.

Go for Torq. I've had it since it came out a few years ago and it works flawlessly on a 6 1/3 year old Dell laptop of mine. The features to price ratio can't be beat.

Torq, and save up for technics. You will always want to upgrade whatever you buy, but not if you buy techs, So just bite the bullet, pull the trigger and get some 1200's they will probably outlast you.
