This is something I've been interested in doing for a WHILE now and have just not been able to do it no matter what.
Vienna is free but I can't use it because I don't have a Creative Labs Soundblaster.
So then I got my hands on Awave, it says its "use friendly".
FUCK THAT. There is no directions on what to do, the help book blows and goes into depth about hundreds of different file types rather then any kind of step by step guide.
Why is this so fucking hard?
All I want to do is convert some of my favorite vst samples to soundfonts (and make some quality trance drum kits). Does anyone out there do make soundfonts?
Can someone tell me what they use and if its easy. I'll get it then most likely come back with some questions. And maaayyyyybe you can help me. I'm really dying to learn how to do this.

Because the only other thing I have to sample with is Direct Wave and it sucks. I've contacted FL Studios technical center because no matter how many times I uninstall/install it (or Fruity) it doesn't work right.(doesn't make sound from the synth when its hosted in directwave (when it use to in earlier versions, + its buggy with a lot of synths and doesn't work with the majority of them)
It takes too much time just to make one sample, and overall is a pain in the fucking ass.
I've just always loved soundfonts and some of my best sounding samples are soundfonts, not waves.
I already read the entire tweakheadz write up a while ago, its basically worthless because he recommend Vienna (which you need soundblaster for) and he doesn't speak a syllable about how to even use it, which I can't anyway because of soundblaster.
+ If I learn how to make soundfonts I promise I'll make sound awesome free packs for the board. =]
That looks VERY promising, never heard of it, will be back to let everyone know how it went. Thanks!

Ok I can not for the life of me figure out how to run a vst in samplerobot.
If anyone knows how to do this please let me know, the books doesn't explain nor does the flash tutorial.
Says something about using Cubase LE but I'm not understanding how it works.
