The ever-growing list of movie remakes...
...or 'reboot,' depending upon how you look at it, and depending upon how those involved in its creation would prefer to market it to you.
Regardless, this nonsense is spinning out of control with remakes like the following on the horizon, complete with links for your disgust or excitement (with select titles emphasized for absurdity):
The Never Ending Story
Reanimator
Plan 9 (From Outer Space)
Predator
The Birds
A Nightmare on Elm Street
Tron
Total Recall
Red Dawn
Hellraiser
Rocky Horror Picture Show
The Karate Kid
The Crow
Troll
They Live
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes
Child's Play
Creature From the Black Lagoon
Red Sonja
Maniac
Candyman
I Spit On Your Grave
Evil Dead
In the Mouth of Madness
Highlander
A good chunk of these links are pretty old by now, but little new information has come up indicating any major changes or cancellations.
There's enough upcoming titles to the point where it's almost not even worth it to talk about them individually, and this list isn't even including remakes that were planned but either abandoned or postponed, like the remake of Escape From New York (almost scrapped), and the remakes to Rosemary's Baby, Phantasm, and Fright Night (basically all scrapped), in addition to various planned sequels. Despite this, there seems to be something for everyone to get pissed off with here.
Anyway, I can understand the willingness to provide some old classics with a nice, updated shot in the arm, and there are indeed some able hands involved in some of these (including the original creators, so it's hard to talk too much trash); but some of these are beyond the pale of being ridiculous and completely unnecessary; The Crow, In the Mouth of Madness, Predator, Total Recall, Candyman? Granted, it's been well over a decade since even the most recent of these, but is it really necessary (or thoughtful) to be remaking films from the late 80's to mid 90's?
By the way, the Rocky Horror Picture Show remake is receiving plenty of hate, and Richard O'Brien (original creator) wants nothing to do with this. If you're feeling limber, you can hop on board with a petition signature on a site dedicated exclusively to stopping this from ever coming to fruition.

I also spent way too much time on this thread.
EDIT: In a subtle ironic jab at myself, I realized that the 2003 remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre was playing in the background while creating this thread.
