Unless you have uberleet playing skills there is no way you are able to record a sequence from the JP into soundforge and then import it in good sync with the project in Reason or Acid.

I usually record stuff on top of the track that im working on, Cubase has this neat feature called retrospective record, which means i just have to press play and start playing as or when i like, without actually recording.
If i feel it was worth keeping press shift+* to get the MIDI data to show, 100% correct to what i played including any modulation and then i can quantise the recording.

What you could do is get another sequencer to record with and then import it back to Reason.

I'm not using Reason anymore, though. I understand what you're saying about recording on top of the rest of your track. I can do that in Acid, but it's not a perfect solution. I want everything to be perfectly in-time.

Yeah, record on top of your track, or use metronome or whatever. And by recording i mean recording MIDI, which after recorded you apply quantize on it, and THEN you record the actual audio from the JP.
And then there is the delay compensation etc. many factors that can make it go off sync.
In Cubase everything is on time no matter what, but i dont know how well other sequencer works in this regard.

Oh I get it. You want the midi data to play the instrument for me while it's recording? I'm not sure how to do that, though.

You gotta use a click track or a kick+snare to play off of and time your playing perfect to the tempo, just do it over and over until you've recorded a perfect take. You should be able to get it to a point the margin of error is small enough that whatever mistake is remaining becomes musical. Or within the same sampler, assign the imperfect loop to two keys, and then alternate when the melody is triggered by switching between the two keys. Or you can make 2 seperate audio tracks playing the same loop, just have each taking turns on playing the melody, blending over eachother. Again to sound more musical instead of a loop that just abruptly starts again. This doesnt solve quantizing audio...since you really can't for a multi bar loop, but it can make small mistakes more musical. Try it out.

Why aren't you recording straight in to acid? That way you're matching it to the bpm of the target track. You can also use a click track in acid to get you're timing right, as well as record the midi and edit that after to play back you're part in perfect quantisation.

AFAIK, all the plugins that you use should also be available to work in acid.

just get another sequencer where you can either control the synth with midi like any vsti/softsynth, or record and then quantize. after that export the audio to your main sequencer (acid or whatever you use).

you don't need a full version sequencer for this, since you don't have to save your project so just download a demo of any sequencer.

Btw, have you connected the JP with MIDI cables into your soundcard/MIDI interface ?
That is the most important thing you have to do, the rest is just simple routing the MIDI Ins and Outs in the sequencer.
