Bad before the good is that the mix sounds anemic. I had to turn up my speakers, substantially, to hear the mix and then it sounded like the samples were just a skosh out of balance with the rest of the mix. The mix, in general, is a little dirty but that could be your own stylistic preference. The other side of the coin is that you're not trying to win the loudness wars, which has claimed many a producer, recently.

The bass drum, at a high volume, tends to sound anemic in some places. The sub-bass drum, while not overwhelming, might have a bit too much of an impact on lesser (than mine) systems and you might consider shelving some of that low-end and raising that track's overall volume as it introduces a bit of muddiness to the mix.

I like the way the break beat works, at the beginning, to psycho-acoustically disorient the listener into thinking that the loop is out of time.

Transitions between parts felt a bit glitchy, like you were triggering different parts, live, but didn't really have familiarity with the music. The lead synth arpeggio that comes in is kind of an example of what I'm talking about. It wasn't there, one moment, then all of the sudden, there it was. It did not make the tune unlistenable, however.

Far from it, in fact... Once I had the mix turned up, it kind of sucked me in - which I think is one of the most important things that can happen in a mix and something that I struggle with. As rough as the mix was, it also kept me very interested in what was happening in it. The attention to detail with the glitch work on the samples is also pretty cool.

All-in-all, I think the tune could use some refinements, but I definitely like what you've got, currently, too.

That definitely gave it kind of a cool improvisational feeling.

Definitely not a negative critique.

I used to own a Yamaha RM1x and could do songs, out of preset patterns, on the fly. It was actually kind of cool.

Project 5, which pretty much does the same things with far more flexibility.
