Someone's Promo Mix that got me hooked on these |
Thanks for the plug on the track. The amazing remixes turned in, imo, are what put that package over the top. Seriously... Solartiy closed to book on it, stunning remix from them. Its a subtle builder, but once it gets to where its going, WOW. Robins & Kontes turned in the dance floor bomb, so much play on that one.
But yea, heres my thought on the state of "good" trance music. The issue is the incredible amount of "average" trance that comes out. Its a sea of white noise. We (Paul & I) get 500 promo emails a week and it is SOOO hard to weed through the above average stuff. For awhile there I would burn the "decent" tracks only to find I give them on radio show play and maybe one live play before moving on to something slightly newer... Seriously, i dont want to be playing that kinda of music... Just "ok" tracks that are good for one or two plays just for the sake of it being new and just decent. I have now moved on to only burn the real standout records. I want to put a track in my box that will last a few solid months, not a just a few shows.
So with all that said, my point is, there is just as much great trance/progressive coming out, you just really need to work hard digging through the sea of the solid but soon forgettable tracks that are coming out left and right.

btw... going through promos right now (my daily hour dedicated to it...) and WOW: Tempo Giusto- London, this is a classic slice of prog-trance forthcoming on Black Hole.

Now a days is so hard to find true decent trance. Like Kenneth Thomas said, you got to scheme through a bunch of ok, often mediocre tunes, that makes it difficult to actually select the good stuff. Also, a lot of the "trance" tunes are so into the progressive range that they could easily be mixed in house sets so in my opinion Trance is not dying, it's just in an evolution stage along with House, and people need to be putting out so much doo-doo.
