Yeah, I think perhaps things get kicking around 9 PM, maybe that is when LA Riots goes on? Not sure about that.

They open doors at 6 for those who like to party looong (and since this isn't chicago or the rest of the world, and we can't keep a party going past midnight or 2 AM at best!)

Plus get there earlier = get better parking + bum free drink tickets off the talent before they have already used them up = WIN!
