well i meant specifically, such as reason or lets say the supernova.
there is a difference, even though the general concepts stay the same.. for example reason doesnt have arpeggiator programing like the supernova.. and low/band/hi filters, with adjustable filter widths, tracking, and Q amounts.. 3 envelopes per part, each with individual attack decay, sustain, release, with control triggers such as unison, osc modes, glide types, DCO / VCO modes, porta types.. LFO's with syncs, range, triggering, delay, and offset.
there are generally many more features of hardware synths involved with the programming, than software.

Thanks DJ Ahter. I've started analyzing some patches now, and it really is helpfull. I also decided to order an synth programming book. People who are intrested in such kind of books can take a look at www.amazon.com and www.barnesandnoble.com. They also have other audio related books wich you might like, like books about mixing, recording, etc.
