Yep, they are natively supported in Serato, and it works FANTASTICALLY well.
The new 1.2 version of Traktor (due in September, but a beta is publicly available now) also supports the CDJ-400 natively.
I suppose Traktor is the better choice right now:
1. You can use the CDJ-400's internal soundcards, in Serato you HAVE to use the SL-1/SL-3/TTM-57.
2. I don't think you need the "scratch" version of Traktor Pro, since you aren't even using timecode.

I wont lie, i do use the wave display more than I'd like to and it has often saved me from hitting a loop pre-emptively or 1 beat late.
As the boys said above though, one of the DVS systems will sort you out, though you would need a laptop etc then on top of the 400's. But from what I can remember I think the 400's are natively supported by Serato (not so sure about Traktor)
