Golfing...
I've finally decided it's time to get back into the swing again, that is golf.
Being a status symbol to all-nighters via design projects, this semester shows a little more smoothness as far as architectural projects go. If you've noticed, I've been a little more MIA, so-to-speak, in the partying world lately, meaning I haven't been to too many gigs these past couple of months. The reason is my health. A visit to the doctor about 3 weeks ago literally scared the shits out of my pants and now it's time to get into the groove again...."groove" meaning gym, sports, and more than ever, a decrease in fatty foods. High cholesterol plays a MAJOR in my family; unfortunately I'm one of those whose blood cells LOVE cholesterol. Not that I'm overweight or anything. High cholesterol doesn't necessarily mean you "have to be fat" for it to be high. It just means your body (or in my case, my genes, like mom and dads) can procure a little more cholesterol than the normal human being. Long story short, fast food restaurants are out of the question. That means eating a granola bar at midnight at the college of architecture is a much better route to take than waiting until 5:00am for "Brother's Taco House" to open up.
I'm looking at getting back into the exercising-realm again, and this time for good. I know for a fact that Cory is a big golfer and I'm looking forward to playing with him soon. As far as the Houston scene goes, I sorta know where most golf courses are here in Houston and which ones I need to stay away from.
The question is, as far as Dallas, San Antonio and Austin go, does anyone know of any decent golf courses in that particular area that you think is "decent" enough to play on? Which courses should I stay away from? I'm looking at maybe spending between $20 and $60 for the 18 holes. I'll be driving to/fro Dallas and Austin especially, due to AIA (American Institute of Architects) events, promotions, software promotions, and design contests associated with my school. We have the option of leaving Friday, attending the event on Saturday, and returning Sunday, so why not spend a Sunday morning playing golf?
Any links or lists will be greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone knows of a small tournament in the area that you may be attending, let me know. I would love to play with some of you guys.
