What's your technique? Fills & SFX
For me, the difference between a good track and a great track is in the variety of 'fills' and effects from white noise 'swooshes' to sparkly arps that hide in the background. These are the elements in a mix that really give the final professional polish that makes it stand out as pro.
As a producer, how do you go about creating these 'fills' for your music? Do you have a secret stash of go-to sound effects? Do you spend countless hours hand-crafting your own? If so, what tools do you find yourself depending on for this task? What are your tips and tricks?
For me, I end up working towards something I want, like a 'falling star' sound and as I work towards that it ends up becoming something completely different and yet still usable as something else. Essentially, I get lucky with most of my fills.
