It's def worth it
I've been using CDJs for a while, however I will using the following to my DJ set up ->
Ableton
Akai APC 40
Midi Keyboard
All along with the CDJs and Serato.
Can't wait to do use it at my gigs - It'll be a great element to the dance floor! |
Would ableton and an APC40 be more preferable to a MPC1000 or 2500?
I have tried to find an example of someone useing a MPC in a set with cdjs and such, but could not find anything. But somehow it seem like that would be a better call than adding another cdj.
The reason I ask about the MPC is that I really hate having to pull out the laptop and connecting it and then packing it up again, over and over, and I don't always have it with me and I don't want to get another laptop just for my setup. (not talking about hooking up stuff at gigs) I want to be able to play, and then once in a while attach the laptop to tweak some stuff, and then continue with my non pc ways.
But then again, I could always just go ahead and get a permanent pc for my setup and get an ACP40... MPC1000 or 2500 looks like a blast though.

i mean if i had a track playing in ableton, i could mix out of it with a track in serato
but how would you mix from a track playing thru serato to one in ableton? is there a pitch bend function in ableton that i'm missing? i have ableton 7 btw... |
just map a knob or slider to the bpm range, and map pads or buttons to the nudge feature...you can get pretty close beatmatching with ableton, but your still on the nudge feature.
This is how i used to run serato and ableton together...bit of a pain...tbh
