logic efficiency, ultrabeat and channel delay

There is simply to many things going on and my poor MBP can't handle the heat. Have you had this problem before?

Whilst I have some specific queries below, please see this post as a call out for any sort of tips on how to increase efficiency for the laptop productions (I'm on exchange at the moment and my desktop is half a world away).

At present I make good use of sends (for reverbs, delays etc) but am now searching for other ways to reduce CPU load before I start bouncing everything...

One idea I had was the organisation of percussion (did someone post a Prydz video a while back? - ive seen something which his and it looks really tight). Not sure how other logic users go about organising their percussion but at the moment I run several instances of ultrabeat (for percs, claps, snares, hats etc). However, I am not using multichannel outputs because I got tired of manually routing every single sample to the auxs' in ultrabeat (though I did like the individual compression capabilities) and I could not find a way to adjust the channel delay for each auxiliary in the ultrabeat instance (therefore not being able to move a clap 10ms forward of the rest of the kit with ease). Has anyone found a way to do this that doesn't involve the sample delay plugin (which only pushes stuff back)?

Not sure how much people value channel delay for each instrument but its something I'm in a habit of using very often (for better or worse).

Anyway, hopefully people can share some ideas as I'm working on a chooon that gives me the goosebumps and just when I'm about to cum the 'system overload' message comes up.

Cheers

Steve

At some point you just have to start freezeing tracks. When I start running into resource problems, this is the first thing I do. As far as the heat just use smcFanControl to increase the fan RPM.

i use 1 instance of battery and load all my percussion into it set them to their desired channel in battery then go to the mixer and manipulate each instance as i see fit without the need to create aux tracks for each instrument. on the mixer they have their own channel as selected through battery. you should look into investing in it. great program for percussion.

Don't use Ultrabeat, it simple cuts your initial sample transients..
