As far as the edm club scene go, there isn't much of one here. HPC plays house on Tuesdays but not sure about weekends since I stopped going there. The crowd there sucks. They no longer enforce a dress code and that's very disturbing. I like the Kennedy. I feel kind of at home here. Mangroves is my other suggestion. It's a restaurant that converts into a bar/club at 10pm and very classy joint. Both places play a mix of top 40 and mainstream techno or whatever you wanna call it. Both places have no smoking except outside, which I think is what attracts me most. They both draw about the same type of crowd...young good looking professionals.

yea i know we got the florida events thread, but hear me out:
basically have a listing of all the clubs in every city in florida that is playing SOMETHING THAT IS NOT HIP HOP on a WEEKLY BASIS.
for example, TAMPA - CZAR - Filthy Richard on fri nights. yes they play a few hip hop tracks here and there but for the most part its like 99% indie electro house and pop mashups. ILL TAKE THAT ANY FUCKING DAY OVER HIP HOP CLUBS. sure its not the greatest form of edm, but at least its SOMETHING THAT IS NOT HIP HOP.
TAMPA - SNATCH - twice monthly, for example, DOES NOT COUNT and should not be in the list. because its not weekly! im talking about clubs where you know for sure you walk in there on that particular night of the week and guaranteed you will hear some edm.
the whole value of this, to me personally anyway, is for example: unexpectedly and last minute i got a free pass from the wifey to go out and not have to watch the baby, i dont have much time! i have to hurry up and groom my mustache, find a scarf that matches my pumas, etc, and rush out the door for my limited window of drinking and dancing time. i went out recently on a thurs night and completely forgot about SLEAZE in tampa at the Chelsea, and instead settled for some crappy hip hop 2 for 1 drink specials somewhere else. if i had a little calendar chart on the fridge that listed where on each night of the week there will be mainly edm played that would have definitely saved my ass.
now say even if i do have enough time to look up the events thread here on this fine lovely forum, chances are there WONT be anything listed in my area for the particular night im going out. no worries, BAM! bust out the weekly cafeteria style club chart. see what i mean?
frankly i dont give a crap if its the worst commercial bland house music ever, ill take anything at this point.
so ... what do you think?
