Hey Everyone,

I'm just wondering if there is anyone else that is starting to LOVE the deep, tribal beats of progressive house/trance? I have been going to System Soundbar in Toronto almost every weekend and I have to say it has been changing the way I look/listen to music. I remember back in the day when I bought Sasah GU in San Fransisco and Digweed; Bedrock I thought they were way toooo boring and slow. Now, I can't stop listening to this stuff. Guys like Danny Howells, Nick Warren, Sasha, Digweed are all that occupy my cd player!
Mind you, I will never foget my epic! There is no way that will ever happen. I have just been picking up more and more progressive vinyl, which I like to start my sets off with. I am hoping to get enough material soon in order to put together like a 4 hour progressive set...mmmmm.

What's everyone's thoughts on this?

i think this deep tribal sound hadn't really taken off in north america yet? except maybe the likes of tenaglia et al.. but in the UK.. i guess its been pretty big over the past several years.. With the existence of the Renaissance series (which, if you haven't gottten, i really highly highly recommend it).. Dave Seaman, Ian Ossia, Nigel Dawson, Anthony Pappa mix those compilations.. and they show the pure progressive tribal house/trance sound of the world i think..
then there's the Nick warrens, sashas, digweeds of this planet.. who also favor that sound
I think the height of the progressive tribal house/trance sound was with the release of remixes in 1998-1999 by Brothers in Rhythm.. then tracks like

Inertia - Vellum
Ian Wilkie v Timo Maas - Twin Town
etc etc..
or maybe just before that..
when Renaissance was at its peak @ Media (nottingham), Cross (london), Zouk (Singapore), etc etc...
then theres the tenaglia's, Tilt, howells, etc..
whom need no intro..

Hell Yea Infinity....I don't think the sound has taken off here in N. America yet. I have just been going to Toronto almost every weekend to hear this magical sound. I too love the renaissance series.
Howells, Tilt, Teneglia...rule in my opinion. One of my favorite Trance dj's mentioned to me the other night how he thinks the progressive sound is boring. I can see what he's saying to a degree, because it does have it's slow points. It's just a different style that's all.

Flight 643 is due for release on Black Hole recordings in only a couple more weeks.. test presses were only few.. and thats all they did..
i believe release for 643 is 14th of april or something like that..that was the date i got with the testpress..
whether or not its going to be attached with urban train i'm not sure. =p
but it should actually hit stores soon after.. or the Monday after that date.. record stores will get it on the date or 1-2 days before release...

Renaissance in Singapore (3 disc series) is probably one of the best CD's i own..
ever have owned.. its so amazing.

i cant stop listening to Dave Seaman's Cape Town Set, it's sooooooo awesome.....very kick ass chill out, but moody set, i'm also starting to like Sasha and Digweed's Communication Set a little better - that set has such flawless mixing, it's extraordinary...

I like Dave Seaman's Renaisance Awakening a lot...DJ Irish's Assorted Trance Vol.3 - this really got me interested in Dark Prog Trance...and i am getting GU19 thru WinMX now...

i love progresso myself...been listening for about a year now, id recommend giving a listen to the old sasha & digweed expeditions [one of my all time fav's]. thats got some excellent cuts on there. if you want the tribal stuff, id say any of the nu breed series...oh, in response to the comment on progressive not being big in the states...i dont think people over here give it a chance to be big. if they hear any signs of serinity or any slow parts, they disregard it as "soft music" [well, in the area that i live, anyways (big East Texas, whoo-pee!)]. i myself think its pretty unfair to label it so. but oh well. shit, im just babblin now. im gonna go soak my head in some boiling water.

I keep on kicking myself cuz I didn't go to Sasha and Digweed when they came to town last summer Mostly cuz at the time I wasn't into that kind of music. Guh! I just recently bought Digweed's GU:19, amazing! I am also getting really into Danny Tenglia, I also just bought two of his CD's, GU 10 & 19. Man I'd love to see this guy spin live, it would be such a magical show.
