My experience at club Set...
So last night I saw Wippenberg at Club Set. I loved his set but what shocked me was the way that the place operates. Maybe there's something I'm missing, being that it was my first time at that venue. I knew about the dress code but even with proper attire they were giving us problems getting into the club. I'd understand if we did not have tickets but that wasn't the case. There wasn't much of a crowd outside waiting to get in (we were the only pre-sales in the crowd) yet we had to continually hassle the guy at the front. After about an hour he finally let us in even though his facial expression and tone of voice clearly implied that he did not really want us there. We then find out that the cover is $25 when our PRE-sales were $35...wtf? Once inside we kept getting pushed aside by bouncers, door men, and even the people sweeping the floors even though there was PLENTY of walking room. I tried to put all that behind me because they did have a nice visual set-up (probably my favorite if it wasn't for the weird lay out)
So I'm dancing and enjoying the music when I receive a text from some friends (3 girls, 1 guy) that were outside waiting to get in. They also had pre-sales and were dressed in proper attire. They said the guy at the front (same one from before) kept avoiding them and after about 45 mins he told them to leave because they weren't getting in. The only logical thing to assume is that he denied them entry because 1 of the girls was overweight.
There are so many things that didn't seem right about that night. My girlfriend read a lot of bad things about that venue but I never expected it to be like that. Chances are very slim that I'll ever be going back.
Anyone have any information and/or experiences that could help me understand why this club operates in such a way?
