looks awesome. supposedly a throwback to the old-school era of metroid, they basically updated the sidescrolling gameplay of the 8 and 16-bit console metroids with movement in 3 dimensions. first person perspective is still possible much like prime, but sans movement. it looks sick, and i love the idea of them going back to their roots with this title. super metroid remains one of my favorite titles for the SNES
i just hope they keep the non-linear adventuring with tons of secret shit intact like how the SNES, NES, and GBA metroids used to be (along with games such as castlevania: sotn and all of its incarnations on the GBA and DS)
obligatory slightly-sexy samus pic

so what's the verdict on the whole free-roaming adventure issue i mentioned? still has the puzzle/platformer/secret shit/non-linearity ala super metroid? or is it more like a mission-based shooter?

i've read a couple of reviews that all unanimously give the game about a "B" score, but all of them say the exploration, secrets, and open-endedness has taken a back seat to the story/plot. BOOOOOOO!!!

Its still got the exploration and isolation that's been on the previous games, But it focuses more on the action and story which I liked.

yeah i mean as long as it's still there then all is well. i always liked the 2D metroid series (SNES metroid and beyond) and the 2D castlevania series (PSX castlevania and beyond) due to the exploration and not so much on the story. i don't know what it is that's so addictive about ensuring 100% map completion and having as many rare items and weapons as possible, but i can't get enough of it.
