Well, vinyl is waterproof, so it shouldn't do anything, EXCEPT if there are impurities in the water, and when it dries, leaving crud in the grooves. Like, obviously distilled water won't do anything, while muddy water would be bad..

Like quddha said, water won't hurt your vinyl unless there is stuff in the water. In fact, one excellent way of cleaning your vinyls is to wash them in lukewarm water with washing up liquid in it.
The thing you want to watch out for though is getting water on the labels. They are obviously paper, and when paper gets wet it goes all soggy and gets messed up.

are you on crack ??????????
Washing up liquid like damm ... that's like washing dreadlocks! Never use soap cause it leaves residue!
I suggest alcohol diluted yes .... and maybe straight water but NOT oh NOT soap .... that's just my personnal feeling and the response I've heard from lots of people
I say you should fill up your bath tub with boiling water and throw the records in there! it will be of splendide effect! and they sure will be clean afterwards

hahahaha... it was the funniest thing i ever saw!!
(i was at said house party)
we were spinning under a tent outside and it had rained yesterday
anywho.. there was a pool of water on the top and thinking of the tent they decided to pull it tight and have the water come off
well instead of the water going out, it followed the fringe thing that was being pulled inwards and all this water came pouring down on them and in the process some splashed on the decks which held a couple of j-spot's records
i laughed... i wish i had a video camera... ahh...
*wipes away tear*
