yup, it's called....*drumroll*..... split cue! If you see that in the specs of a mixer (most mixers have it, some of the cheaper ones don't) you're good

is there a way to explain this better ? if someone named a few models with this feature it would be much appreciated,

when you say "cheap ones" which ones do you mean by that?

if someone could post some comments on how much use this could be or on what circumstances this would be needed it would also be appreciated...
but, does anyone find that useful in anyway ???

thnx in advance for any of your help

I have it and don't use it. If I want to mix like that I just play one track through the headphones and take off one earpiece.

basically what split cue does is let you hear the cued channels on one ear, and the 'master' channel on your other, just like you said.

Split cue emulates djing with one cup on your ear (cue) while keeping the other one free to hear the monitor speaker. It works exactly the same way, but on the headphones. I guess it was designed for situations where the monitor is set up badly and/or where you can hear both hear the monitor AND the 'dance floor speakers'. In these situations you may experience latency/delays, which makes mixing more difficult. In these cases you could use plit cue instead.

Hope this helps
