I know it doesn't even mention when the release date would be, but does this mean it's coming (somewhat) soon? I was assuming (judging by sc2) that this would be out around 2012 or so, but would blizzard really start presales over a year in advance? actually, it wouldn't surprise me THAT much if that were the case.

This. It's just a marketing ploy. By making it available for pre-order now, Amazon is assuring the profits of fans before other sites begin to follow suit.
Amazon almost always does this with the big releases. You can probably expect D3 from this time next year to first quarter 2012.
In the meanwhile, has anyone tried out Titan Quest before? I got it just recently and it kind of seems like a Greek Myth-themed D2, that leans more toward Torchlight. In fact, I think one of the Torchlight devs helped to make Titan Quest just a couple years prior.

I know amazon typically has pre-sales in line for big releases, but I just wouldn't think that anyone would start selling a game so long in advance. it makes sense on amazon's part because they're probably getting a majority of the sales from the big fans, but I don't know, I just feel it's weird to already put a game for sale that isn't coming out for a couple more years.

It's not weird. I saw Gamestop put up StarCraft 2 presales back in 08. There was a similar situation with Half-Life 2.
They do this all the time, it means nothing. Diablo III wont be out for at least a year, I'm betting.

2K is trying to find ways to honor pre-sales for Duke Nukem forever way back from '98

yeah, i bought it against my better judgement and it bored the shit out of me. i don't like these hack n slash mouse-click fests though, so im probably not the best judge.
