I've just discovered using GCAM synths as insert FX and find the filter options very useful for bringing toms to life.
However I want to render them to audio using an export or by freezing the channel. I do this to save cpu even though I have a fairly powerful set up. I have other fx on the channel too so the cpu load can get quite big.
Ok, so here's the problem; To make sure GCAM stays 'on' you have to turn on the 'hold' button on the synth. I had a gut feel this would not work as I find code writers often do not think ahead as to how users will actualy want to work. Sure enough it doesn't work. When you come to render to audio the whole lane stays silent as the synth doesn't 'remember' it's on hold and supposed to stay that way.
In other words it only works when a lane is not frozen or when your not trying to export.
Anyone have a work around?
At the mo I have to re-record back thru the monitors using a mic!!
FX Pansion should nhave prgrammed it so that it just remains open when used as an insert and not rely on thier clunky 'hold' button which is tempramanetal (sp) - even when just doing a routine project save whilst carrying on working, gcam forgets it's on hold and so shuts off any sound routed through it.

Doesn't make sense to me. A midi channel just sends note and change data afaik.
Have you tried creating an FX channel and using it as a send instead?
You're using it as a simple filter right?
Tried this, but does not work as you cannot tell the stupid synth to stay open, so it self shuts and wont allow anything through unitl a note is pressed - thats the problem.
Somehow I have to be able to trigger and sustain a note to make the synth open, and then play another synth through it (so it acts like an effect), which works fine until you come to export or freeze a track. When trying to render to audio the synth does not open to allow a sound through it!
I think there must be a way of rounting various things together, but have not figured it yet.
