Grand Theft Auto: Tunisia

quote:
Here’s something you don’t see every day. Driving down a highway in Tunisia, a news team happened to film a man allegedly stealing a bright yellow Ferrari 599 GTB supercar.

What’s odd is that he uses an oversized forklift to transport the vehicle, carrying it home in broad daylight through the middle of a reasonably busy highway. To make matters worse, the car reportedly belongs to the country’s ousted president Ben Ali who has fled to Saudi Arabia.

Angry residents of Tunisia have allegedly been looting his former villa and nearby compound, and it looks like one of them was lucky enough to make off with a Ferrari. We wonder if he managed to get the keys as well.

I am surprised no one here talking about whats going on there. Guess when it comes to dictatorships and what not, Arabs/Persians would just keep their mouths shut until Israel does something wrong or some G20 protests.

Crazy video.

Let's hope that the newly formed Tunisian unity government maintains a stable environment in the country, so that Tunisians can go on to live their lives with a stronger democratic voice. Considering aspects such as the overwhelming inflation, unemployment, the current turmoil and violence, the previous ruling experience of the parties, the conflict of interest that may rise from overhauling the current legal sytem.. this will prove to be a difficult task.

Seldom do these uprisings occur in the Arab world, so I'm hoping that this revolution proves to be a success. If it doeas, it will set an example to Arabs in other countries to protest against the social injustices they face daily due to their corrupt leaders. Arab Leaders recently met in Sharm al Sheikh to discuss the implications of the Tunisian uprising on the rest of the Arab World. I'm curious to see how they'll react to this whole issue in the near future.

Lol God damn yanks :P (jk.. I was born in the States) I was actually hoping that the power vacuum doesn't get filled by a party that the US might deem as an 'extremist' group, giving it an excuse to shove its nose into Tunisia's volatile politcs.
