took a listen, the voice leading is really all over the place and I don't really see it pointing people in the right direction.

just learn how to play and be creative, nowadays everybody can make music

take loops from CD's
use above midis
transpose the loops to midi
et voilla: new track (ehhhhmm just more crap really)

If you really can't play, i can recommend Magix Musicmaker or eJay.

I don't see it any differently than looking through a sample pack for "the good ones."

Which one did you use for your releases?

Ouch.

I do like the idea of "Royalty-free" chord progressions though. As if there are any that anyone can actually claim to own.

are you fucking serious?

http://s3.amazonaws.com/0adnps6z1vk...IVmaj7-5_DU.mp3

Listened to this and oh my fucking god the last chord damaged my ears, i saw my face reflected on the screen and it was a "oh my god what's this shit".

Chord progressions are sooo easy, making a good arpeggio melody with syncopations and counterpoint melodies is the hard thing, it is not that hard indeed is just a matter of time and dedication not everyone is willing to do

Glad I'm not the only one who had that reaction.

But, wouldn't learning how to create your own chord progressions or melodies take up precious time that could be better spent scouring the internet for pre-made MIDI files?

Neither, I'm no longer a tranceaddict in training

No but seriously, you guys need to give it a fucking break
take one of the numerous free piano courses here on the internet rather than chasing precooked bland templates..... The fun part is writing, experimenting not micro DJ'ing, with loops and midi templates revoiced to a Sylenth arpeggio. (yes we've all been there.....)

So Beatflux rather than being a smartass trying to outwitt me, do the right thing and start studying playing

a lot of trance specially the most commercial is just a chord progression of strings heavy sidechained, i feel this like a personal thing, the rythm is more neutral, i'm not against the loops but i feel that the melody is something more personal, you can make a real melody on top of this chords but i feel that the most entertaining part of production is having an idea and making it a reality.

Exactly + the fact that i am against loops (not against samples) but everything needs to be at at least a one shot sample triggered by midi. Otherwise it's not cool enough (not that the avg listener will know) but it's about manhood, looking yourself in the eye know that you can do it and didn't "cheat" The one person that must be at least proud of the production is yourself. I could not look myself in the eye sharing a stack of 4 or 8 beat loops and say "hej, look what "I" made. That's why i am far more impressed with minimal and tech house these days. harder to "cheat"
