SvD has always gone different directions and is always changing, I think this is largely more of him changing to a style that's not up your alley and also that his record box has gotten a bit stale, rather than judging the quality of the tracks on their own. I think a lot of those tracks are at least decent, even though not the SvD (or Purple Haze) from back in the day. But that's how it is with most producers. You hold them up on a pedestal from when you liked them the most and if they split off from there, it instantly terrible, he's sold out, he just isn't the same, etc. Anyhow, sometimes DJ goes through these periods where the DJ sets just don't have the same fire. But I think that's separate from his production quality.
Overall, you don't hear people complaining about his sets too much or anything, do ya? An "eh" review here or there doesn't mean the downfall of a DJ. And yeah, his Trance Energy 2010 set was WHACK. He played a lot of old stuff in it that just didn't fit.
Considering his production style in 2010 and the return of his Purple Haze alias (which he said he was doing away with for good a few years back), I feel his issue either 1) he's trying to do too much across too many styles, or 2) he's just trying to find a new sound for him. Him having his own sound in the past is basically what defined him, or 3) He's burned out right now and is pushing through to get by, or 4) I'm crazy.
