Although i've been away from the TA forums for a few months doing other things. I come back and as I expected the Technics 1200 series is still the most highly appreciated and most respected set of decks here and on the market.
I've been saving up for a set of the beasts, and recently come across something that only the TT experience of some of the TA's here could answer...
Technics 1200/1210's or Vestax PDX-2000.
For some of you this will be an obvious choice but i've been looking around and speaking to a few people, and one of my good friends who used to work at Digital Village, who got me into mixing told me that hands down the PDX-2000 is a more reliable, and better deck than the Technics 1210 m3d. He's sold countless numbers of turntables and had hands on experience with all the tables that goes through Digital Village, so i'm now not sure which TT to invest my hard earned cash on.
So peops, anyone who's used either of these decks, or even better, both, what do you say?

i'd say if it is between 1200s and pdx2000s, certainly go for the 1200s.
there is another choice though, pretty pricey though...
ttx-1s, numarks table. seems to be a VERY quality deck (unlike previous numark decks...). it is VERY high quality, and VERY VERY powerful (3.7kg torque) + more tricks on it than ANY other deck...
since you're in UK, i found a nice price here http://www.djstore.co.uk/cgi-bin/br...m&item=numttxpr (UK prices are pretty high, might get it elsewhere for 410$ each). on djstore.co.uk it's for 895pounds WITH carts...
if you're paying good money, i think it's worth instead of those 21year old UGLY decks...

The only adjective I wouldn't give to the PDX-2000 and your friend gives it.
How the hell can you judge reliability of a deck that only exists for less than 5 years. Reliability is on the long term, and so far the SL is the only deck I would qualify as proven reliable.
Features ok, torque ok, looks arguably (prefer the ugly old look hehe), but reliability no way. I say wait 10 years and compare them again... Besides I still find the pdx-2000 to be less vibration resistant...
Same goes for the TTx1. It seems quality (personally I was impressed by this deck, by no means comparable to the other numark decks), but let's wait some time to see if it's reliable.

I think that the SL1200's are better, because you can replace almost every last part in them!!! Does vestax and numkark make parts for their turntables so that if they brake your can replace them?? I dont think so.. just a thought!

for real! easy to replace 1200 components...
for example, one of my decks is fairly old and the pitch is getting a bit loose... $16 got me a new pitch fader.
now thats what i'm talkin about

man if your buying decks get techs. Like every club i have ever seen uses techs. Their the industry standard. You should learn on what you will most likely be using when you play out.
