lurker here. host needs to allow hot linking (instant downloads, no middle man site), 5+GB of storage, a fair amount of bandwidth, access to the number of downloads each mix gets...
i used to use rapidshare but they have changed things recently so im leaving. considering mediafire. any other options? its ok if they arent free.
soundcloud is too expensive if you want to host lots of hour long files. solo is like $100 a year and im limited to 12 mixes hosted at a time. mediafire allows unlimited mixes at $70 a year.

i pay $12.95 a month for www.djryan.com and I get to host 500gb with FTP access and also transfer of 500gb a month so I can stream all my content on the internet fairly easily.
and where do you host this through and does it enable you to track how many downloads each file gets?

yahoo web hosting. and no. it doesn't allow you to see how many downloads you get. personally I stopped caring about that a long time ago. I figured I put em out there and if people wanna listen they will. if not, no point in getting irritated with the amount of downloads or lackthereof.

i like to look at them not because i care what the numbers are but because i do care about which mixes are relatively successful. my biggest mixes maybe only 3 digit listens but when a mix bombs and never passes 50, i like to look into things and find out why.

I really liked soundcloud but transcoding an hour + long set with their issues really pissed me off. I got tired of uploading and reuploading sets only to find out that "this mix is too hot for us" or some shit like that. So I only use Soundcloud now to upload my tracks and remixes.
Other than that, really the only other thing for you to do is to find place like divshare, or something which has a pretty stable management platform, and use that.

well ya, thats what im looking for... thats why i made this topic... i figured maybe someone knew of a site i didnt. right now im leaning toward mediafire cause it looks like they have the best price to feature ratio and they meet my minimum requirements.

Check out www.wetransfer.com too.. I liked being on the receiving end of their site. Not sure what their internal systems is though and it appears to be a tad bit expensive at $120 a year. However, it is endorsed by several record lables to host and transfer massive amounts of data to and from different outlets.
