Looks like they're trying to get in on the Live paradigm, but it has some potentially interesting features (e.g., per-note automation, device, nesting, generic tracks).

Looks like a total rip off of Live with a few new features tacked on. Why bother jumping into shit when we don't know whether or not the ship with sink or float?

A lot of people felt that there was no room in the market for PreSonus Studio One when it was first announced, but it's done very well. As for Bitwig, from what I recall, they actually announced this about 2 years ago or so, and a lot of people have been keeping an eye on its development. So, I'm guessing that there will be a market for it, but of course, that will largely come down to features/usability and price.

lol i was just about to type this, yes my friend notified me of this a couple months back and it is the ex-developers of Live plus some ex-developers or other DAWs coming together in one project.

It looks interesting and it looks like Live may become obselete for music production in the near future and left to what its original use was, Live performance.

This is the only gripe i had with Live, is that they would cater to both live performance AND music production which made a huge room for error and bugs amongst each side. Looks like now there will be a Live, without the "live" and im excited to see what happens.

I don't think that "Live with a few extra features" really captures it correctly. How about:

All the stupid junk that annoyed the crap out of us for years in Ableton have finally be fixed by someone else.

If the next version of live doesn't live up to the hype I can easily see myself jumping ship. Of course it all depends on the level of support and the community that develops around the product.
