EDM mixing references

From the other thread of bad mixes, curious as to who you reference in terms of certain producers that make flawless mixes.

State the name and genre and a particular track you think is particularly good. Lets try to keep it clean so this can be stickied eventually. No judging other people's choice.

Yes, there is another thread but nobody posted. So hopefully people chime in.

Just post a track you think is mixed really really well.

Artist , track , genre

I don't reference "flawless" mixes, I just find a few songs that are similar in style and it's usually on a per-song basis/whim. That said, if it's a dance track, there's a good chance that a Kaskade song will be referenced, or Delerium/Conjure One for something more downtempo. I think their productions are consistently good and I listen to these artists very often on a wide variety of mediums, so I have good frame of reference.

for the kinda stuff we've been doing, we're mainly referencing norin & rad, maor levi, tritonal. all down the more electro-styled trance alley:

Pretty much anything by Neelix

This is the re-edit of 'Senses' and the mix is insane. I actually prefer the original version, but just listen to the mix here. I'm not 100% on what genre it would fall under, some cross between Psy and Techno I guess.

And my all time fave from him 'Give them free'

I usually don't judge a mix by its cleanness.

Clean mix per se means nothing. The content and its emotional transmission on me is what I take in consideration to define a "good mix".

Of course, cleanness is important to some degree, but after a certain treshold it becomes secondary.

A mix is much more.
Specifically, the dynamic aspect is pretty ignored on this board.
And I find dynamics probably the single most important part of a mix.

Anyway, an artist I consider an absolut master of good mixes ^ is U-Recken.

He is one of my main references.

Robert Babicz - The Feeling.
Deep house.

Best gliding bass ever, by Babicz, he is a mastering engineer too...

I think these threads inevitably end up being "post your favourite song/producer" polls, every single time. No matter what the criteria is, nobody ever bothers to back up their choice with a comparison or - heaven forbid - an A/B reference to a not-so-good track; no, it's just a one-liner followed by a YouTube clip or several.

There's no such thing as a flawless mix. There are certainly some that are more flawed than others, but eventually, with every producer/mastering engineer and every mix, there comes a point of severely diminishing returns where every additional change is just another trade-off (at best).

(Well, unless you're producing "minimal" something, I guess... in that case there's often so little spectral competition that you really can make everything full and wide and loud.)

Honestly,

Lange vs Gareth Emery - This Is New York
Lange vs Gareth Emery - Another You Another Me

I would not referance any of my tracks to these at the moment, as i have no idea how to sound like that, so id rather compare my new tracks to the best of my older tracks. But these are definitely the ultimate reference tracks for me.
