I am looking for a pretty good external sound card for a laptop to use for recording and mixing with an external mixer and for final scratch program

Anyone have any suggestions please post.

What do you want on the sound card. Do you need midi in and out, do you want optical in and out, or do you just need dual RCA connections?

Sound cards by M-audio are good and go into the upper level of your price range. you can get a good one for about $250us. I think Meyer make some decent stuff as well.

Also, if you get the option of midi in and out, i would take one with this cos it means if you get into production, you can plug a keyboard into it

Does M-Audio make an external usb for the laptop? If not, what other external soundcard would you reccomend.

Also a soundcard with rca inputs

I would suggest either a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz or an M-Audio card. The Santa Cruz is an awesome card for how much you pay for it (~$70), it has 3 outputs & works fine with DJ progs like VTT and Traktor, no RCA's tho. But if u've got the money certainly go for the M-Audio Delta44 or Delta66 depending on how many ins/outs u need. M-Audio do a brilliant job keeping up to date on drivers and new software, and its a beast of a card.

But I only have a Santa Cruz coz I cant afford a Delta.

I guess I'll settle for shitty 30 $ usb card

you don't need an external sound card for Final Scratch, your laptop's internal sound card will do.

hell yes they do. Audiosport Quattro has 4 in, 4 out, and a MIDI interface.

Thanks fieroavian, spectra. For the info on the usb quattro, I was also looking at the extigy but i think i am going with the M-Audio USB Quattro.

np m8. U wont be dissapointed with the card, its worth it, and its worthy 100 extigys.

What about the M-Audio Sonica?

Would that do the job? I dont know much about it...

no, Sonica ain't really a sound card, it's just an add-on. it adds 24-bit/96khz and dolby 5.1 capabilities to an existing desktop/laptop sound card.

Extigy is nice..
