Ear Plugs

Do we have a definitive guide to ear plugs? I have had these for the last 4yrs but they were stolen in this awful house robbery that happened to me in November.

They were good, they had replaceable filters (ie 9db, 15db and even 25db). I used them while DJing and it was amazing how clear everything was, nothing hurt the next day and the best part was when people would scream in my ear, I felt no pain!

Has anyone tried these by westone?

They are actually repersented by more people in the states but the filter sticking out makes me concerned they won't be ok with headphones over them.

Any others I'm leaving out? Strictly talking custom plugs in this thread.

I use custom moulds. Little bit more but when you are young, your heearing is important. The trick is to wear them before you are exposed to excessive dBs so that you dont feel like you are disconnected from what is going on which I think is a big reason many dont use protection. But these are so comfortable, you just dont feel you are wearing them. I dont cluyb anymore or perform but I still use them when I walk around to kill the city noise or when my girlfriend wants to express herself.

And I justrealized you werw talking about the same style. I went to see what ever you call an ear and throat doctor and they take an actual mould, which many advertise as custom but they just look like the cavity of your ear.

Insurance covers it.

I got a pair of shure scl2's awhile back for like $60 on clearance. I've been using them as earplugs too they sound better than regular old plugs when you're out and about

Do you DJ with them as well? What I liked about sensaphonics is i could wear heapdhones over them and it wasn't uncomfortable -- I'm just worried the westones might stick out too far? Thoughts?
