I know I don't post in the CoR much but I need a bit of your support.
For my graduation thesis I'm researching potential new business models for record labels. I'm trying to gain knowledge about the consumers right now. I've got this survey here, it contains only 10 easy questions which should take less than 5 minutes.
I especially need guys like you to answer this as the models will be focused on niche markets, anything beyond casual listers especially, so you all qualify . I'm really hoping you could help me out on this one!
For better of for worse I can even offer you a copy of any track that has been put out during my music production 'career'. If it helps giving the amount of replies that extra push I'll do it. Just let me know which one you'd like.
Sorry for the cross-post. It won't happen again. I will only graduate once.

Did the survey, however:
8. Which price would you prefer to pay for a single track digital download?
I don't think it's well formed. Maybe "How much could you think of paying for a digital download".
I prefer it for it to be free, obviously.
But Beatshit wanted 5€ for a track yesterday. So go figure why we have piracy.
Bedankt voor het invullen van de enquête.

The question is asked this way on purpose. The research is on businessmodels mainly. Free implies a different business strategy than paid business models. Also, right now it seems like a lot of people apparently prefer to pay , which makes it even more interesting.
Thanks for the feedback. I unfortunately don't have any finished unreleased music productions at hand. You can pick anything you like by clicking the beatport link in the footer or checking out my soundcloud. I'd be more than happy to pass on a 320kbps mp3 of the tracks you pick.

Done. For the question that Chimney asked about - perhaps you should have specified the quality of the digital download? Maybe that is supposed to fall under the scope of the followup question? I'm still happy with 320kbps, but I know that a lot of your niche market likely isn't - the djs and producers especially.
I wrote a bit too much for the open ended questions btw, sorry about that.
Be sure to let us know your findings.

Thanks for your input. I didn't want to make the questionnaire too detailed/complex. It is hard enough as it is to create a set of coherent insightful questions as it is. I'm also more interested in the grand scheme of things. These details will be adressed a different way .
I will post about the findings for sure, I'll be sure to bump this topic as soon as I've got more to say.

Small bump. I need about 20ish more to hit the 100 respondents mark I'm aiming for. Would be great if they're coming from the CoR especially. Thanks for the tons of replies so far.

That would be awesome! Just to be sure: they really need to be electronic dance music lovers in one way or another for them to be of any significance. The research is purely aimed at EDM consumers .

So I gathered, and will do.

Done. Wouldn't mind seeing the thesis as a final product when the time comes

The thesis will be in Dutch which would make it a bit awkard.
But I'll be writing an article soon-ish (need to prioritize right now, deadline soon) on the blog that will be the result of the thesis http://www.lovingmusic.net. The article will mostly just focus in the results of this survey though.

Here's a point for your thesis:
Why would I pay up to 5€ for a .wav on a digital store like Shitport, that doesn't even accept my credit-card and who has a joke of a customer support, when I can simply pirate that exact .wav within seconds?
I gladly pay for my music, but why would I if I'm disrespected as a customer?
