Djm 700

anyone have experience with this pioneer?

thinking of upgrading/downgrading from A+H xone92.

it's a good mixer, but kind of boring, plus the crossfader is shot, and replacing it is £100... and i was thinking of getting a new mixer anyway, can get the 700 for £700, funnily enough.

is it like a replacement to the DJM 600? improved? has all the effects etc?

it all depends on what type of mixes you do.
if i could chose I'd go for a&h's precise and tight 4 band eq over pioneers sloppy ass 3 band eq. any day of the week.
The FX section.. i dunno.. seems kinda redundant, at least if you're running some sort of traktor timecode setup, and i cant speak for all dj's but that seemed to be the de facto setup in oslo anyways.. bottom line, the fx section on pioneer, as i remembered it, was rudimentary at best, and didnt really feel like much of an upgrade from the djm-500 at all. Blah enuff ranting..

U said the x-fader on yur xone92 was busted? Have you looked into
replacing it with a innofader? http://www.innofader.com/index.php
Can't say I've tried them myself, but people who's word I consider gospel swear by them. SO could be worth a shot. I know they're kinda pricy, but they last and are awesome.

So yah, I'd stick with xone92 if I were you, and rather spend the cash you'd waste on something fun to plug into the mixer instead.
Or sell it to me for cheap, I don't care :P

Get the Z2, you can have A&H's tight band EQ in traktor and pioneer's EQ. The mixer comes with a free copy of traktor pro 2

I'd keep the 92. The 700 is pretty much an 800 without the digital inputs and color effects (those blue lights on the center left of the 800). The 700 also has a smaller simplified LCD display, a dedicated LoPass/HiPass filter (but I'm not sure if you can assign it to each channel individually or only to the master), less effects but also 3 additional effects not available on the 800 (Crush, Roll Up, Roll Down). Crush on the 800 is a "Color Effect." The 700 also has RCA Booth Out instead of 1/4" Booth Out. There's other small differences, but those are pretty much the major ones.

By no means is the 700 a bad mixer. I've used it before and I own an 800, but as far as sound quality, it will be like going from a BMW to a Honda. Sound quality on the 92 is simply outstanding. Than again, the DJM 800/900 are in most club installations along with the Rane TTM 57, so you'll feel right at home with the 700.

AH mixers use different cross overs that make more sense. The djm bass is centered at around 80z, the mid at about 1 k and the highs at 10 k or so. The 4 band AH sort of fills in a few octaves giving you way more control.

I owned the DJM 700 aswell as the XONE 92. I have two styles of playin. Deephouse/techno and then i prefer the XONE 92.
Hiphop& RnB: i prefered the DJM 700 cause of the fx and shorter faders.

I even owned a DJM 800 before. So in conclusion it all depends on what style u prefer of playin.
But when it comes to quality the DJM 700 is worse than 800 and Xone 92. It has a plastic feeling to it that i dont like, specially the Silver coloured. But it's worth its money.
