Well I suspected the new Mac Pro would be modular and it pretty much is.

'External expansion only'

And what's this I hear about PCI-E storage? Does that mean all your internal hard drivery will be Apple products only?

Unhooray.

It's good to see American computer and electronics companies starting to keep jobs here at home.

Assembled in the USA is not necessarily the same as made in the USA though

Yup, looks like a fancy space heater.

I wonder how quiet it will be.

Oh trust me, Americans are well aware of that difference. We manufacture hardly anything here these days, but we can handle the assembly of just about anything (unless it's from Ikea).

it makes no sense to produce the parts in USA while assembly would probably mean higher quality as the machine/human-rate is much lower in the west than the east. in korea machines are more worth than humans.

The only difference would be standards and work volume. Americans are really not great art any sort of human assembly unless it is very custom and expensive products. The Mac Pro is and has always been a show piece. They sell so few that they can do this and any overhead is nothing compared to Mac being able to claim they care about Americans and have taken steps to bing jobs, all 50 of them back hoe.

Er, these were not the droids we were looking for....

...but the specs, if true are fucking hardcore. External expansion makes sense though; externals are now as fast as internal drives and now you don't have to overpay for apple SSD's.
