Music out of your productional comfort zone that inspires you

Just looking for something new .

Last year I've been listening to this genre which is called Futurebeats for the majority of my listening hours. Sort of hiphop oldschool meets scooter meets flashy EDM synths. Don't know how to explain it better but it has got it all. Pitched down or chipmunk vocals included.

Some Craig David for the Brits

DJ Complexion. My curated high quality feed of futurebeats.

And to top it off some nu-disco.

I've been a big fan of 80s-early 2000s industrial (and related genres) for several decades and I'm inspired by the production techniques, but I've never been satisfied with anything that I've tried to produce in the industrial realm. It seems like it would be relatively easy to produce, but my industrial efforts never really hit the target, so I guess that would put it outside of my production comfort zone.

Yeah, watching this style for some time and trying to get some idea where this will develop, which path will take - like this one:

Interesting arrangement and approach.

I'm gonna come way out of left field and say Portishead and Massive Attack.

This is a legitimate change of direction imo.

I don't really see a variation of a 4/4 genre being significantly different from each other to qualify it as being a worthwhile change.

Everything, but most of all Classical piano music.

I had in mind to compose a kind of piano piece with hard 909 beats and possibly a 303. Unfortunately, it never came to fruition.

Come to think of it. I love this one too. Chris Reece is one of the baddest ghostproducers of EDM anyways .

Many kind of folk music.

Though I don't think kulning ever was actual music, just a way to call grazing cattle back home from the mountains.

Mongolian stuff:

Just some hippies jamming in the jungle:

I get chills when the kamanche comes in at around 2:00.

On top of these, various piano pieces, and pretty much anything played with a celtic harp or a hammered dulcimer.

Amen brother. Honestly, Chris Reece give me equal parts of inspiration and complete disillusion. I will never make anything as good as one of his b-sides
