well, a friend is abroad and he found a dj store near him, he's planning on buying headphones and he asked me to check out the mdr-500. So anyone know anything about these headphones, would be nice if you knew the price

I have the MDR-V500DJ's and I personally really like them. They look great, they sound great and I think they are quite durable. But then again, I haven't used any other headphones yet. So i'm very happy with my pair

...and they're CRAPOLA. The bass is dull, lifeless and doesn't extend at all deep. The midrange is uneven and coloured. And the treble... Honky, screeching and muffled all at the same time. Not worth even $20, let alone the $80 that many stores sell them for.

hmmm...I would recomend spending some extra $$$ on a pair of mdr-V700 or the sennheiser HD25....the 500's are ok for homeuse but bothing more.....consider buying a better pair of headphones than theese if you plan on playing anywhere else but home

I dont know what shadyslim is on because I use these and I prefer them over any headphone i've used. I can hear all eq changes perfectly, maybe your mixer was broken or something dude, because these are the best headphones I have used...period.

i have them, they're alright for home use, but if you're going to be playing out then these phones aren't for you
the isolation sucks
but other than that, i have no big complaints about them

The MDR-V500's are not good, please don't get them.

From an audiophile standpoint they are far, far under par.

From a DJ'ing standpoint, they are also far, far under par. The isolation is not good at all, for one, nor are they very comfortable.

Of course, they're usable and they do the job, but there are better headphones out there.

Let me emphasize, though, that the V500's would be okay if they weren't so expensive, but as Sony charges so much for them, then it's not worth it in a million years. Just to give you an idea, I would think these cans would be ok if they were $30 or $40 CAD. $50 is pushing it. Unfortunately, they charge $80.00 USD (which is $120 CAD!!!!!!!!), which is absolutely ridiculous.

Research some other cans (preferrably non-Sony; excepting V6) - you will make a better choice in the end. Check out Sennheiser, Pioneer, Technics, etc.

What I've said about the MDR-V500DJ's is exactly what I've heard. I tried at least two different samples of those headphones, and on numerous pieces of equipment and several different mixers - with practically the same result.

Yea, Sony MDR-V500DJ are decent $20 headphones. The only problem is that they don't cost $20.'

Have had these for over a yead now, the swivel has broken twice. The sounds aren't very good...nothing when compared to Technics RP DJ 1210 but to be honest I love these ones to bit. They're light and compact .. very convenient for me when mixing...I just need to get used to my Technics... Tough decision... but again get the, if you're loaded.
