What are ppl's views in here with respect to vocal trance and to those that get into the charts... with respect to commercialised tunes from PvD and Tiesto even... should producers be slammed cause they overlay vocals on top of their tracks?
I mean, to what degree, makes a trance track cheesy, the vocals? The synth? The beat?
Surely, some lyrics that talk about love, being lonely, being a stronger person etc is quite cheesy... but there are some that I think are pretty good. Even some tracks are being remixed by bigger jocks...

Well vocals are usually what make a track cheesey, but at the same time they cna make a crap track amazing, im a big fan of female vocals
But everything combined makes a track cheese in general
But most of the time DJs ruin good tracks with vocals to get them into the charts

there are some that'd argue that all vocals in trance are cheesy (Sy, u muppet ), I disagree, but it's getting harder and harder to find quality vocal trance
as for the synths and the beat, they go a long way to making a track cheesy

depends on the way the vocals are used! too many vocals imo wastes tracks! especially all the lovey vocals but then again if vocals are used imo correctly and not overdid then they can add to a track!

If its in the charts then its cheesy, Besides since when has most stuff in the charts been proper trance? DJ Sammy - Heaven aint trance, Not by a long shot. I could have slapped my mate who said it was. Ok Dee Dee - Forever might be pushing it. Its melody is quite powerfull but i would say it fits more into the club genre. I hate all comercialised music and how people call it trance cos its not. I fucks me off becuase people dont buy it most people dont like it and it feels like people are taking the piss out of our music when its in the top 40. A big reason i like trance is becuse its different from what normal people like. The community is small compared to all the mosh shit and R&B, all your usual crap. Thats what makes it special, its different and u have to be different in a sort of way to appriciate it.

I think it is - but just really really shit trance.
I think your Sammy, Ian Van Dahl and the like should be labelled as pop-trance as it's obviously aimed at a commercial audience...

Vocals are in chart music, therefore vocals in trance make it pop music. Which means vocals in trance are cheese!!!

If u like at it like that tho, u can say there are elements of trance in tunes by Ian van Dahl and Scooter. But that doesnt mean that the rest of the Trance scene is cheese just coz of scooter and ivd..

i dont totally agree with you there Sy cos look at tunes like
arome - hands up (S P mix)
picotto - lizard
tiesto - urban train (C G mix)
but then again there are tunes like
knobcheese(sammy) - heaven
IVD - will i
fragma - dunno individaul tracks but theyr all pish
so as ive said before it depends on the way the vocals are used! imo vocals that are the main part of a track are tacky and pish! as long as they aint overdone then i suppose they can be alright depending on the rest of the track!
