Will any of the SF/LA clubs survive the pandemic ?

We're approaching a year of no clubs in California now. I don't know how somewhere like 1015 Folsom is surviving on zero income & Bay Area rent. I assume night clubs/indoor concerts will be the last thing to re-open.(Fall maybe?) Which means no revenue for months

I've heard of some old school bars and restaurants having to close down here in Los Angeles. I know Vaguard aka Academy or whatever they renamed it is starting an outdoor dining experience on their patio. Not many venues have that luxury though.

Sucks big time!

Hopefully the landlords are working with them somehow. Its not like any other business would come in and takeover right now.

NTIA warns 81% of UK nightclubs won't survive past February

quote:
In a statement released earlier today, NTIA chief executive Michael Kill predicted that 81% of the UK's late night venues will not survive February.

Together with the statement came an online survey, gathering evidence to present to Parliament in support of the night time economy. The NTIA are seeking to prevent the "extinction" of nightclubs and other late night venues, which will have been closed for a whole year by March.

The NTIA enquiry has also found that 88% of surveyed UK nightclubs are in over two months of debt to landlords, 86% have made redundancies and 43% have not received any financial support from the Government.

"The failure so far of the UK Government to recognise the devastating impact of their actions on this sector is a tragedy for UK Culture," Kill said. "Nightclubs and late night venues have been closed since March, with many suggesting they will not survive past the end of February."

"The facts stand that nightclubs/late night venues have been given limited, and in many cases hugely disproportionate support outside of furlough for the year they have been closed and suffered extreme financial hardship for over 11 months, with many seeing the end of February as the last stand for their future."

"We are on the cusp of losing a cultural institution, the government has ignored the sector and failed to recognise its economic and cultural value. Throughout this pandemic and the restrictive measures levied against the sector, it is clear that these businesses are being systematically eradicated from society."

I can't imagine many places survive. Even with some of the rent forgiven/postponed, some of these business are so far behind I don't see how they will catch up.

Maybe if venues can re open soon, but I dont see SF/LA letting clubs open at least until the late summer?

The Midway seems to be doing ok in SF

The Great Northern did a couple streams, didnt see much else from the city's venues. Was a bit surprised these big venues had 0 effort put into lockdown outreach, e.g. twitch/youtube
