Smoking ..umm..something Fruity Loops: Playlist, Mixing....

Hi Everyone!

Greetings from London, where the weather is so cold that a snot rocket can be turned instantly into a lethal weapon!

I write psychedelic trance using Fruity Loops 3.5 and my only problem with it is that the playlist is so rubbish! Is there a program that I can export my loops into which will allow me more freedom to change volume, fade in, etc in the playlist? Also, I need to be able to see all of the loops and the fruity loops playlist will only display about 30 until you have to scroll down and you can't adjust the magnification!! Grrr... Its so annoying!

Anyone have any tips?

That sounds workable.... What is ACID? Will the quality remain as high if I do that?

ACID is a sequencer and it would fit most of your needs. The only problem is quality does drop a slight, and if you have nice reverb/delay effects on your loop you lose that little aftermath when the loop finishes. just remember to wrap your loops, that is anything that was at the end of your loop is placed at the beginning of the loop so that it doesn't sound stop starty (hard to explain).

and about the fade in and out.... its not such a big problem, you just need to do this with the "Main Automation" Channel if i understood your problem.

u can do it with any pattern actually... and fruity does have an annoying system of arrangement, they should have done something like logic, or cubase, even the arranging in reason is better...

all the playlist problems, and the lack of a mixer will be fixed in fruity 4.0, which is nearing release....i have seen some screen shots, it looks AWESOME, it is a massive step forward for fruity.

Thanks for all the advice guys!

Flotser -

I never really figured out what the main automation channel was for! I'm terrible at reading manuals and help files!

You can download some of my tunes on

http://www.Amazon.com/music

Choose "Free Downloads" on the navigation bar and then search for "Psy Schwanz". I'd appreciate any feedback!

Bye for now!

What I know about the automation channel that it is running thougth all your song, and not just for 16 bars (or what you choose in the Song Settings). its important cause if you will try to record volume changes in a normal pattern it will stop recording when the pattern ends.
So for exaple you have 3xOSC channel with a short loop, that you want to repeat itself but constantly raise it's volume? so you paste the desired pattern several times in your playlist and then you go to the main automation channel, click the record button, and then while the song is playing you can play with the volume of your 3xOSC and all will be recorded. (you can click on right mouse bottun on tne volume thingy of the channel, and choose: edit events..you'll see there)...
