Thanks for all your help.. I was hesitant to come back to this board for advice (i had stopped checking in because I felt this forum had grown a little towards the immature side) but those of you who posted your .02 did it in a very good, solid, non-critical manner and I appreciate it.. this is what this forum was meant to be.. I was expecting to just get flamed w/ comments about my different color tables (hey, they're different, what can i say?) or just some other meaningless jabber..
so getting back to my situation.. as you can see, my mixer isn't too fancy, but, it works so I gotta be greatful for that considering it is an American DJ product and old too. the xfader bleeds like mad and i am not willing to put any money into repairing it because that would be money towards a new mixer. the mixer i've had most experience besides mine is the pioneer djm600, a guy in my old dj crew had it and that was the mixer we used all the time, i like it but its expensive, and i'd rather get the Xone for a couple hundred more bux. but all this is outta the question because my setup is in dire need of replacements.. well not really, but it is time to get new headphones because my v6's finally snapped, i've got about .00005mm left on my least worn stylus, so really the new mixer is more like a luxury than necessity. plus the fact that i've got rent, tuition, bills and credit card debt draining my wallet, it's very hard for me to justify dropping a large sum on a mixer when that is a large chunk of debt I could clear.. so basically i'm gonna look at getting at least two styls, and my headphones which should cost me about $175 total (im getting the night club ortos($25x2) and pioneer sedj headphones ($100). at that point i will assess the mixer situation, but i want to estimate that I don't want to spend more than 400, I know i wissh i could get teh Xone and its sound quality, but thats a luxury i can't afford and besides, my mixes sound just fine coming from the american dj..
also, yah forget the effects, i can get an fxbox later if i see it necessary (again, another luxury). I should look at the vestax, I just really don't like the look and feel of vestax mixers, i've used about 5 different ones (from the 2-ch scratch/battle mixers, to some 3-ch mixer w/ a lotta knobs and looked fancy, I just didn't like how it felt and i guess thats personal. maybe i'm accustomed to the djm w/ its big fat knobs

Sorry to hear that man, but you said somthing that I have total respect for was "my mixes sound just fine coming from the american dj" I am older than like 90% of the people on this site. I started music in the SLUMS. Since like 8 y/old I played guitar,@13 then bands in h/school,@19 in a Promissing Death Metal Band playing bars. @24 Found 2 members starting there Junk addiction life, packed my gear, came home, end of that music Career. Worked Hard Labor, said f that, went to school, got good job, worked ass off for carrer.
Stumbled upon an Early Tiesto Bootleg and that was it.BTW I am the same age as him.
Your Quote "my mixes sound just fine coming from the american dj.." tells me were I used to be. The Equipment NEVER changed my passion for music. I always started with Shitz equipment before I got good then over time scrimped( legally of course) for Top Line stuff(not to mention watching all my friends for years take there 10 times better equipment than mine to FUCKING LESSONS!!!!. There Music Lessons lost everytime to my Passion for music. Alot of people think the good equipment plays itself!!!
Dude sounds like you got the passion
You are welcome to Spin on my Wheels anytime Dude. You list from S.California? Which city? I lived there too B4 in Arcadia
I only post what I am 100% positive & sure. I have seen alot of disgusting advice from people here and seen BAD mistakes because of it.

thanks for the compliment.. and yes, passion is a definite must.. and it definitely helps me do what i love even w/o the best gear. i've been mixing on this mixer for so long, shoot i woulda had my Xone 62 a year or 2 ago, but i knew that its not something that the ends could justify the means in that i had more important things to pay for than a mixer. now, i actually need a new one but i think i'd rather buy an ok mixer and still spin w/ a good sound, than buy the best mixer and get kicked out of my apt. cuz i can't pay my rent.. soo i think i'll look into that vestax 19" there, but do they make a 4ch?

Forget all that...
RANE MP 2016
Best mixer around. Smooth mixing, power beyond belief. Most clubs have this mixer among others to choose from. If you get this one, the only way it is 100% effective is with the optional xpander with the EQ kills and active crossfader. Most fun mixer I have ever worked on.

I just do it exactly the way I enjoy listening to it. This is most of the time it is with banging beats. It is even with a soft thing, a soft melodic idea, or whatever. I still like to have it rocking. Keep in mind what this music is made for, first of all. Its not made to be easy listening on the radio. Its not made to be easy listening in television. Its actually kick ass in the club. This is what music is. This is the purpose of this art form...to listen to it and let the frequencies actually blow you away. --Paul Van Dyk
