The Gemini decks are allright for bedroom mixing and bedroom quality mix tapes but they simply don't touch Technics sl1200's. The quality is far superior, the pitch control more accurate and smoother, and some clubs still run 1200's that are 20 years old. It really is a case of you get what you pay for. If the decks are for just a bit of fun now and again, then just get some belt drives and save as much as you can (something like the soundlab dlp-1's are decent entry levels) but if you're even slightly serious, save up to get 1200's. They also keep their resale value very well so even if you decide it's not your thing, you will be able to sell them for little or no loss, very easily. As for a mixer, just get a simple 2 channel mixer. Buying a mixer is finding out/deciding what suits your needs, and until you have some experience with various different ones, go for cheap now and buy what is perfect for you, when you know what that is.
