Blame the U.S. government for the RAVE Act, NOT the druggies

(This post was originally a reply to DJ Slain's senseless claim that the RAVE Act is the druggies fault, which was locked for some reason)

Ignorance is bliss. Drugs are an essential part of this culture, just as they were in the jazz scene when it started out, and just as they were in many avant-garde movements of the past that are now part of art history.

How can you say that the RAVE Act is the druggies fault? I invite you to come to Europe, so you can experience what real clubbing is like. After living all my life in America I always felt repressed in the clubs over there. In clubs in NYC i have been stripped down by bouncers, and i didn't even have a cigarrette on me. Security is repressive and won't leave people alone. In fact, security in a club was probably responsible for the death of 21 people in Chicago last weekend. Just because they were STUPID.

Clubs in great cities like Boston have to close at the ridiculous time of 2am. Talk about Puritan roots . Not to mention that alcohol traditionally makes people more violent, something that is very evident in US clubs.

Here in Europe I don't see any RAVE Acts going around. Why's that? Just because Europe right now has better governments that are not abusive and legislate pragmatically in favor of the people. Last weekend I went to Trance Energy and was surrounded by thousands of people doing E while I only drank. Did they bother me or anyone else at the party? Not at all, in fact, their energy gave the party great vibes even if the music wasn't that great.

Say all you want. I'm an American citizen and not anti-American at all. But Europe owns America in terms of social policy, that's a fact. The RAVE Act cannot be blamed on drugs, it can only be blamed on the senseless War on Drugs and the repressive nature of the current U.S. government. Eradicate drugs and dance culture will die, but of course that will never ever happen because drugs are to trance what ketchup is to french fries: not necessary at all, but most people will prefer the combination. Here in Holland I feel truly free for the first time in my life, I love this country and this continent .

And don't forget extacy used to be legal in the Us. It was used as an antidepressant untill 84 I think.
I cant beleive the ammount of money spent on drug enforcement for light drugs like pot and x.
I also heard the FDA might make ephederen illegal.

but i beg to differ... isn't it because the NOOBIE and uninformed users of drugs, fuck up like taking too much water with XTC which is what kills you... stoopid fools don't research no wonder they OD...

Aren't they the people who we should be telling off... if it wasn't cause of them overdosing, then we wouldn't be having this prob.. the govt only stepped in cause it saw a problem.. why because of the IGNORANT newbie's overdosing!!

What about the millions of people that have died of ODing on alcohol? Should the government ban alcohol too? Or close down the establishments that sell alcohol? The U.S. did that once, and it didn't work.

Abuse can happen with just about anything, the RAVE Act is all about the War on Drugs.

clubs get shut down regurlaly around the world because of drug issues.

speaking of rave act, for example france passed one in 2000 that states that any electronic music gathering shall possibly be called a rave and that the owners of the equipments being used for such events are direcly suable. party in your back yard can get you *shut down* and your equipment seized.
