it's pathetic....i bet most of you will think it is great....it's a great disrespect to boo any country's national anthem. Just because some in america made the decision for war...does not mean the entire country is for it....look at all the antiwar protests. But booing a national anthem is against an entire country....which is sad and pathetic.

In reality it is still a great disrespect. I mean he's right, most Americans don't even want this war. Its funny because, in 1991, the Iraqis didn't attack the States either (I know the invaded Iran), but the point still stands that it was ok then, but not now. I mean yes they need to get him out of power but at the same time, they've been hasty in their decision. Regardless, we shouldn't hold all Americans accountable for the actions of a few Americans. It would be the same as saying that all Muslims are bad because a few are suicide bombers, or something along those lines.

Montreal fans boo Star-Spangled Banner

MONTREAL (AP) -- Fans booed during the playing of the U.S. national anthem before the New York Islanders' 6-3 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday night.

The sellout crowd of 21,273 at Bell Centre was asked to "show your support and respect for two great nations" before the singing of the American and Canadian national anthems.

But a significant portion of the crowd booed throughout Star-Spangled Banner in an apparent display of their displeasure with the U.S.-led war against Iraq. More than 200,000 people turned out for an anti-war demonstration in Montreal last Saturday.

"I'm sure there are a lot of people against the war, but some things people can't control," said New York's Alexei Yashin, who is from Russia. "They were probably showing what they feel about it."

Teammate Mark Parrish, a native of Bloomington, Minn., was upset hearing the boos.

"I came to the game pretty pumped up, but once I heard that it really got me going," Parrish said. "So I guess I can thank them a little bit for getting me more pumped up."

If booing is disrespecting the American nation, then yes I do not respect them at this moment and think it is an oppurtinistic move by monterealers. I would've done the same off course!
