After evaluating the CD for myself the first time, I must this CD is a lot like most other Tiesto CD's, new style and all: using very good tunes, but timing them badly in his sets and his mixing, as usual, is not as good as it should be for a studio mix. Just listen to the Darren Tate tune into Midway - Inca for a good example of a BAD transition. Also i think the Use of Midway - inca was a bad choice in general at that point in the mix; he should have used Midway - Amazon which is more bangin, would have fit better. I also think using U Write into 'Destination" was rather awful, not to mention 'Nothing' into U Write.. both are great tunes (especially Nothing) BUT they were poorly timed in my opinion. Tiesto certainly does not create a Magikal journey in this one, the tracks don't tie in with each other at all.
having said all that negative stuff about it, i will also say he uses some of the most brilliant tunes put out this year, highlights being "beautiful Things', 'As the Rush Comes' and 'Mistral'. Overall, it's a nice 2 discer, but buy it for the tracks, not the mixing or placement. i will also say a couple of his transitions were very well done, (like 'beautiful things' into 'in your eyes') but these were sadly the exception. i expected better mixing.

No problem. btw what did you think of the actual tune, Nyana? i thought it was just kinda average, it didnt really catch my attention, but that was just at first listen. |
You know, during my first listen I thought the same...but as I listen to it more and more the more I am enjoying it, although it still is missing something. I think the reason it didn't catch my attention the first time around is that it's really mellow.
So, in the end...good, enjoyable track, but nothing extraordinarily special.
BTW, to those in the San Francisco Bay Area, Tiesto is no longer playing at 1015 on June 6th. It was moved to The Mezzanine (at The Mint), I believe a new club that just recently opened up.
Now I have to get Sony (Computer Entertainment, the PlayStation folks) to work on getting me a press pass to the new location...argh.
(Note that a few games will have special visuals from a few games, namely the awesome music-rhythm game Amplitude, to it or something based on tracks that Tiesto or whatever is playing, so I have an excuse to go as media and write about it. I work in the VG media industry.)
