"Love" over used.. ?

DO u think that the word LOVE is over used in todays society?
and if soo how do u cope with being able to express your emotions with out over using the word LOVE? do u use somthing else or do u not bother showing that effection even thoe its not fully true love.. ?
how do u express your love to someone with out overusing the word love to every other person.

| Yes it is often overused and a a lot of times a word to use someone... Saying I love to my family is no problem, but to girls I said it once and it was a mistake so now I just usually say I like you very much. I'll just save the I love you for when I'm really sure. |

I don't think so.
If you care about someone, if you like to spend time with this person and you think this person has a great meaning for you, this is love. Obviously, while we're growing up, we change our concepts, so we find out what's passion, what's physical attraction and what's actually love.
Plus, there's nothing better than hearing these words from a person who you really care about, even as a friend. I would make a long speech, but I gotta study for my mid-term exams.... I'll end my thought tomorrow :) |

the truth is.. that the word "love" is used so much in society, that we've reduced it from a word of high honour, to something so very common...
like for example... we use the same word when we say "I love hot dogs" and when we say "I love you" to your significant other
the word has lost much of its meaning |

love is not a word, it is not an emotion... rather it is a verb, an action
u can feel love to another fellow being but that feeling will be ephemeral and short lasting
the greatest of loves are like a potted plant. in order to make it strong, green and healthy, it requires constant watering, sunshine and tender care.
how do u express love to another? just do it, don't think it

| I dont know if the word "love" is over used or not.. i think rather than it being over used.. its misinterperated(misspelled). People use it thinking that they know what "love" is .. but not knowing what it is at all. I think in relationships.. its under used.. especially in mine. You can show it.. but with out saying it showing will never add up. Theres a difference in saying it and showing it. The effect is far greater. Especially when you know its really "love". I think people sometimes can over abuse it and confuse it with Lust. But hey thats my opinion. |

I guess I would agree. If you are using it in a context that you love someone then yes I think it's thrown around a bit too much. I imagine when most people say love, they really feel infatuation.
Other ways though, I would say it's ok (i.e I love lesbians) because it's really just a stronger way of saying I like something. |

Love, IMO, is 5000% over-rated, especially amongst teens....
personally, I use other "arrangements" of words to express it.
