| I've heard all these sets and do not like PVDs new style. All the WMC sets have pratically the same songs. It's lots of dark prog mixed with not even techno but schranz with little energy. Nothing like hearing him live. |

I agree with you. Sometimes I feel like he sits down every three months and plans out for the most part what he's going to spin for that time. If you look at his sets there pretty similar with one or two white labels/ cdr's and two or 3 other songs changed........ thats it. This takes my love for his music away alot. It's as if hes not djing he is just playing his track list. |

sorry guys, imo paul is never the same. i have seen him 4x in 10 days, and each night was so different from the others. granted, there is an overlap of tracks played, BUT they are never in the same order.
each live experience is completely different than any other. and his track selection is SUPERB.
you may just be getting tired of him because you've heard him so much lately. although this has yet to happen for me with paul, it has with tiesto, and consequently i have not seen him since aug 2, 2002, and am not looking forward to seeing him again. although if i did, i HOPE he will be playing different tracks!
thanks for the set greg, something new to listen to at work.

Kinda like the Kabbalah (or more correctly the temurah). Permutate something and see what happens. |

I think alot of DJs plays alot of the same tracks within a certain time period so no biggie. As long as they mix it up I'm fine.
As for the new sets that you guys are talking about I don't think its live, I think they pre-recorded sets. Not really feeling Part 1 but Part 2 is good.
Oh and these 4 sets might be similar but my oh my do I lav them. :toothless
Paul Van Dyk - Essential Mix Live @ Columbiahalle 07-14-2002
Paul Van Dyk - Live @ Nature One - 08-03-2002

I love his style...and so what if he tends to play the same tracks over a certain period of time...its nearly impossible to play different tracks at every gig. He sticks to the tracks he enjoys at that moment...period.
In terms of his song-selection..i love it more than ever. Theres so much more to electronic music than "trance" and I guess he's attempting to open up some closed and restricted ears....;) |

I'm not talking about his live sets. Nothing to ever compare to experiencing that last hour live in the club. But these pre-recorded sets have mabye 2-3 songs that have that kind of energy in them. The 3 hour HR-XXL set is probably 2 hours 30 mintutes of slow stuff & tech. He throws in Inca & Solarcoaster at the middle and doesn't bring back the energy until Three Drives at then end. |
